EALE Job market 2021
At the annual conferences, EALE will facilitate in job market sessions that offer European job market candidates whose research is in the field of Labour Economics, a platform for presenting their job market paper. This presentation also enables candidates to prepare for the US Job Market. During the conference we also organize a meeting moment where job market candidates and conference participants can meet and greet in an informal way.
In addition to the job market sessions and the ‘meet and greet’ event we are initiating the EALE tour. The EALE tour is meant to support the career of young economists in the field of Labour Economics. A selected group of the most promising doctoral students in the field of Labor Economics in Europe will be given the opportunity to present their work in three economics departments or institutes in Europe. The EALE tour entails a one-day workshop in each of the three participating universities/institutes, and will take place at the end of May (2022). Travel costs, and costs associated with accommodation and meals during the tour will be covered by EALE.
In order to be eligible for selection, each candidate has to meet the following criteria:
- Present their work in one of the EALE job market sessions and indicate interest in the tour during the registration for the conference.
- Be enrolled as a PhD student in a European University (definition Europe: http://www.euro.who.int/en/countries)
The selection of the candidates will be announced during the EALE conference in September.
Candidates interested in presenting their paper under the EALE job market facility can submit their paper (or at least an extended abstract, as in most cases a paper may not yet be available) through the regular submission process (selecting ' job market session' at the topic list). The submission deadline is March 1, 2021. This channel is only open for students who intend to be on the job market at the end of 2021. The submission should be accompanied by a recommendation letter of the candidate’s supervisor, who should also confirm that the student will be on the market. Please send this recommendation letter to email@example.com
Decisions on acceptance will be announced no later than April 1, 2021. Accepted submissions will only be included in the Job Market Sessions if the candidate has been registered for the conference by May 15, 2021. We expect candidates to send us their full paper by September 1, 2021. Job market candidates will be listed as candidates on the EALE job market website and the conference app. We will include the CV’s of the candidates and links to their home pages and/or contact details.
University departments and research departments of academic and non-academic institutions searching for graduate labour economists are requested to inform the EALE secretariat on their vacancies. We will post these vacancies on EALE’s website and inform the participating candidates on these vacancies. Those who wish to hold interviews with job market candidates during the EALE conference should get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org
